Realisation

I have recently realised just what it is that makes a true Traceur , and a non Traceur.

It was after a conversation i was having with a few of my friends about when the next time we were going out to train , and my mate Ross suggested we just do light conditioning and balance circuits.

I was in no problem at all about the idea , but another one of my friends ( now ex-friend ) had said he may be going to the orthodontist before it and may not be able to go .

After Ross giving the idea my other friend said " Thank god i might not be able to come , the basics and conditioning are boring " , and i said but one phrase , " Boring is the word that seperates non Traceurs from true Traceurs " - which i think is true.

The point i`m trying to make is , that i`ve finally come to realise what it means and what is needed to be a true Traceur , the word boring should not come into it at all , ok conditioning may become a bit repetitive , but is needed to advance and progress in Parkour.

I have learned from this and now know that i cannot skip any of my training because it is " boring " ( even though i never find any of it boring ) , because if i do i will never be a true Traceur, but rather a , " Part-Time Traceur "...

You are correct in saying drilling the basics over and over, will make you a better and yes "true" Traceur.

Although conditioning may seem boring to people, it is making you stronger so you will be able to handle your weight, execute moves with explosive power, and keep injury to a minimum through the demand you put on your body.

The only way to have flawless technique and have natural thought free "pure movement" is to drill the basics from all angles, heights, left&right sides, wet, cold, hot, day night time and in diffrent environments. Remember the rain makes the most basic of obstacles hard.

It is great you are not bored by doing the basics, and through time you will benefit greatly, knowing you are confident in the way you move and what your body can do.

Train well, stay strong and forge a strong spirit within Ian.

Thanks , and yeah i know exactly where you are coming from with training in all enviroments , which is also what i`m doing with my training by training a lot more in the rain , because i think anything you can do in the wet , cold and dark , you can do ten times as well in the dry , hot and bright.

I now find training and conditioning in the rain a sort of " lead-up " to summer training , as i know anything i can do good in the wet and cold , i will be so much better at in the hot and dry.
